How can I prevent spam harvester getting my email...

...addresses from our website? When I post my email address on our website, I get tons of spam. Is there any way to show the email, but to be safe from spam harvester.

Create a JPG or GIF with the email written on it. Then post the image of your address. People will have to write or type out your address, but a harvester will not be able to get it easily. Do not put your email address in the ALT tag either.

If you use mailto:me@yadda.com you WILL get spam. There are a couple things you can do:1.) Create a form that will submit user comments to a script. The script will then send you the email.2.) Do not use "mailto:" but instead use english language to tell users how to email you. E.g. "email me at me (at) yadda (dot) com"

The path of least user-difficulty would be to use javascript to do this in a way that will be transparent to your visitors.Use a generic javascript method, such as one of the ones described here on the following page:http://sig9.com/articles/hide-emailThis is what I prefer, since the "mailto" links still work in the easy way they are supposed to.

You can create html form and use php or perl to send an email to yourself. This way no one will ever get to know your email id. Another possibility is to create an image with your email ID. You can use Paintbrush under windows XP or Gimp under Linux OS. However I recommend you to create simple php or perl form to send an email. See php example below.

Here's a web site where you can plug in your email address and it will create the Javascript code that you can just copy and paste into your site. Your email address will look normal and unprotected when you browse the page, but the spam harvesters won't be able to capture it. I've used it alot and it works great. It has already cut down on my spam.
